Northern Spy Food Company

We checked out a new spot in my hood today for brunch. This place has only been open for about 6 months or so and from what we heard, they are known for their brunch. From what we tasted, "they" were right. :) I had the oven baked eggs over polenta with braised mustard greens. It was really hearty and so so delicious!

Curtis had the corned beef with potato confit and poached eggs. It was also a pleaser.

To drink: Curtis had this dark beer with a scoop of homemade french vanilla ice cream - what a mess! But he loved it so that's all that matters. I had the Fuji apple mimosa. Yum!

Detox

I managed to eat all veggies today. (Needed a body cleanse) This was lunch - purple tofu and purple onion with soy sauce.

Dinner: Spaghetti squash with tomato sauce.

(Mock spaghetti!)

Snack time involved cucumbers with onion dip. (If you buy the Lipton soup mix - make sure to let it refrigerate for an hour or so - it includes bits of dehydrated crunchy onion -- you don't want that - trust me!)

Fancy chicken dinner...kinda...

Pan fried chicken (with "I can't believe it's not butter Light") and some purple onion slices. Roasted asparagus (yum!) and a hearty portion of pesto pasta with basil.

I cooked each item separately and it came together well. Curtis ate it in about 10 minutes.

Bon Chon

Holy hell. Amazing fried chicken with a garlic soy sauce. Served with Kimchi coleslaw and some kind of pickled something...turnip? Radish? Who knows?!
All I can say is - I want more....NOW!

Take out dinner

Fried crab wontons.

Com Chien Bo Luc Lac
(So yummy! Curtis and I were supposed to split - but he ate it all in 5 minutes!)

Putting my meat into my broth....I love Pho...

Now dumping in my noodles. ;)
I made a HUGE mess. My tupperware overflowed - got broth and noodles ALL over the floor.

Caipirinha

1 lime

2 ounces of cachaça

Sugar to taste

Ice cubes

Wash the lime and roll it on the board to loosen the juices. Cut the lime into pieces and place them in a glass. Sprinkle with the sugar and crush the pieces (pulp side up) with a pestle. Just enough to release the juice, otherwise it'll get bitter. Add the cachaça and stir to mix. Add the ice and stir again. It is delicious and potent!

Egg Salad

I labeled this as leftovers, but it was freshly made. I just ate it the next day. :) 5 eggs (boiled and then mashed up), mayo, dijon mustard, celery and carrots (finely chopped), salt, pepper, paprika. Yum! And yes, Terence ate this too. haha

Vegetarian Sausage Cornbread

This looks gross, but it's great and super easy to make. Take one package of Jiffy cornbread mix add one egg, one can of sweet creamed corn, crumbled vegan sausage (I used Morning Star), 1 tbsp chopped garlic, 1/4 c diced white onion, 1/4 c mozzarella cheese, 1/4 c milk. Combine.

Bake for 30 min at 350 or until golden brown.

I served mine with eggs over easy, salsa and sour cream. I had so much leftovers too that I took it to work the next day and gave it to one of my garbage disposals (Sean). I feed Sean and Terence so much, they must think I'm their mom.
